CHALLENGE

Preserving historic artifacts is something the TITAN UK team can easily handle thanks to a network of secure storage facilities across the country.
But the request to preserve the last remaining lifeboat, the SS Nomadic, was unique even for them!

This 100-year-old lifeboat was designed by Roderick Chisholm, chief draftsman at Harland and Wolff. It could have accommodated 28 passengers if disaster struck Nomadic, a ship that carried White Star Line passengers to larger ships like Titanic .

The lifeboat needed looking after as the SS Nomadic was undergoing extensive renovation work.

SOLUTION

The last surviving lifeboat from the Nomadic has been placed in one of our secure, dry self-storage facilities in Belfast until it is ready to be put back on display as part of the Maritime Belfast Trust’s Titanic Belfast tourism programme.

Because all TITAN UK self-storage facilities are 100% private, there were no customer requests for special treatment.
Once closed, the boat became as blissfully anonymous and hidden as the thousands of other parcels customers had stashed away in over 28 depots across the UK.

DELIVERY

This priceless historical artifact was finally released from secure storage in late 2023 to take center stage alongside the SS Nomadic.

RESULTS

The SS Nomadic and its last surviving lifeboat have been reunited, offering visitors to Titanic Belfast a glimpse into a bygone era.
