Donna Urquhart will soon set a Guinness World Record™ for running across Antarctica, and TITAN Containers is following her every step of the way.

Urquhart is well on her way to running the longest polar ultramarathon in  history , and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of her 1,300km conquest.

Donna set off from base camp on Union Glacier in Antarctica on December 14th to mark a significant milestone in the world of women’s endurance sports.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A RUN THROUGH ANTARCTICA?

Melbourne isn’t exactly in the best geographical location to train for such a race.
Trading Melbourne’s sunny skies and 25°C temperatures for the frigid -20°C and endless snow of Antarctica seemed like a daunting task, until TITAN Containers stepped in.

The team at TITAN Containers offered Donna Urquhart year-round access to the ArcticStore range of portable refrigerated containers .

These temperature-controlled containers, often used for food storage by well-known brands like Tesco and Thatchers, can be cooled to -40°C.
The containers became the perfect „training ground” for the 4,600 km distance Donna was supposed to cover in 2023.

„It was a really valuable experience. I learned what equipment I needed to bring and how to use it. At one point, I was in the freezer and my drink froze! I learned how to use the equipment. We are truly grateful to TITAN Containers…”

This was a use case unlike any other.
While our Melbourne team is used to delivering refrigerated containers for frozen goods, vaccines, and low-temperature engineering components, they now needed to deliver a running machine to one determined runner.
