TITAN Containers is on a mission to replace all fossil-fuel-powered container handlers (CCHs) by 2030.
In its latest investment in this eco-friendly future, the warehousing solutions provider has introduced eight new, all-electric container handling trucks for warehouses and depots.
Handling over 50,000 containers across over 100 locations worldwide, including 28 depots in the UK , is no small feat.
For 40ft storage containers , Empty Container Handlers (ECHs) play a key role in providing the secure storage solutions TITAN customers expect.
As the UK continues to work towards its 17 Sustainable Development Goals and commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 , investing in green energy is more important than ever for UK businesses across all sectors.
Now customers can get the same service they’re used to without the fossil fuel-powered machinery, and there’s more to come.
WHAT IS TITAN CONTAINERS DOING TO OPERATE MORE SUSTAINABLY?
In 2023, TITAN Containers acquired eight new, all-electric empty container handlers that will support its goal of a greener future.
The first delivery in this exciting transition period included five Ferrari CVS ZE-Lift empty container handlers, which replaced fossil fuel-powered vehicles at various European container hubs.
In addition, TITAN has also purchased three 12-tonne A120X electric forklifts.
TITAN is currently using them for container handling at its container hubs in Adelaide and Newcastle, NSW , as well as at its recently opened depot in Kolding, Denmark .
That’s not all.
TITAN also invested in ten electric delivery vehicles for use in warehouses around the world.
Furthermore, TITAN’s fleet was already 70% electrified .
Layland Barker, Founder and Director of TITAN Containers, talks about the impact of this new equipment and TITAN’s plans for the future:
“With these deliveries, we have reduced our fossil fuel consumption by about 25% compared to 2021. We expect to phase out most of the remaining 75% over the next four or five years.”
TITAN is also taking steps towards a greener future by investing in solar energy.
The recently opened depot in Kolding, Denmark, was TITAN’s first 100% solar-powered depot , and it certainly won’t be the last.
Layland Barker shares his plans for continued sustainable growth for TITAN Containers in the coming years:
„Three of our locations are already powered 100% by electricity generated in-house by TITAN. We also installed our first public electric vehicle charger. Because we can generate more electricity than we use during a working day, we plan to introduce more electric vehicle charging facilities in suitable locations in the coming years. We want to lead by example.”
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TITAN CONTAINERS IN THE UK?
Switching to environmentally friendly machines means UK customers will continue to receive the services they expect without contributing to 78% of the UK’s energy consumption from fossil fuels .
When UK customers use our storage depots and self-storage containers , they can be confident that we work hard to ensure sustainable solutions across all our facilities. Our electric appliances and vehicles, solar energy initiatives, and plans for more electric vehicle charging points are all part of a broader green growth
plan .
